The Screamin Eagle (drilled) slip ons that came on my '07 FXDL are dented and rashed. I'm looking for real value priced replacements and that are far louder than stock. The Cycle Shack MS-129 set for the Dyna can be had on ebay for about $150. Do they come with a removable baffle? Do you modify it or have to buy a shorter/louder replacement. I figure that I might as well go the $150 for a pair of new slip ons that I know are scratch free and will bolt up rather than than chase used SEs on eBay for really not much less.
For those that have used the Cycle Shack slip ons, were/are you satisfied with the quality, fit and most importantly, sound?
They are noisy. I had the slash cut ones on a high comp 95". I replaced them with Khrome Werks HP+. deeper sound, but still not quiet. The baffles come out of the slash cut, not sure about the tapered ones.
Those Cycle Shacks come with removable baffles. Definitely louder than stock, which you can pretty much say about any after market slip-ons. IMO those are the best bang for the buck considering the sound and great chrome finish.
If you don't like the sound you can take out the baffles and see how it runs and sounds, but I think you'll lose some bottom and mid-range power without baffles. I had a set of those and installed the BCT QQ baffles. They didn't quiet it down, and gave it a much deeper tone. https://www.bigcitythunder.com/
They are $143 no amazon. My buddy has them on his bike and they are louder than my V&H SIDEshots. I had the cycle shack tapered (non-removable baffles) slip ons and they were a great bang for the buck.
I think they rattle & shake too much too, I don't understand putting the cheapest pipes you can find on a Harley, spend another $100 or so and get something top quality, Cobra or python slip ons are always a safe bet.
Had the tapered ones on my bike and they sounded good. From what I've heard, cycle shacks are the same thing as screamin eagles(cycle shack used to make screamin eagles) but the cycles shacks are a lot cheaper.
Honestly man I had (have) one set of slipons and think if your going to spend anything don't get slipons get a whole set of pipes because slips almost always find their way onto a shelf somewhere and become a waste of cash.I say have because I still have the set I bought in 2009 but all they do is collect dust now. they were rush slipons with 1.75" baffles. I thought back then that cycleshacks had different sizes to choose from, the smaller the quieter should you still choose to get slipons. the 11.75's i had were plenty loud.
just my opinion and I would not preach to anyone!
I bought a set for the GF's Heritage, I think they sound awesome! CHrome may be a bit thin, because they discolor easy. Chrome polish seems to work pretty well to clean them up. Hers are they slash cuts and baffles are removeable.
