Default Largest front tire for Dyna

I have a 99 Dyna with a 21" x 3" wide wheel. looking for the biggest tire I can fit on there without issues. Currently have a 80/90-21 but looks to small especially without a front fender.

You could do a 120/70 with no problems, as long as you've got 5in between the inside of the forks.

I just measured and I have 7" inbetween forks.

so the rim does not have to be 3.5" to fit this size tire? mine is only 3"

Are you sure you have a 3 inch rim? Measure inside bead to inside bead.. Stock was probably a 1.85 tho you might be able to get a 2.15.. The 3.5 inch wide rims are a new thing..

There may be a change in handling with a change in rim/tire width. It might not be for the better, either.

I decided to purchase a 21x3.50 wheel and go with a 120/70-21

Make sure you will be ok with the space for your rotor and caliper...I think i would stay at 3" but just make sure it will fit in and everything will line up with that 3.5".

I changed my 19" Street Bob wheel for a 21x3 and run the 120/70...wasn't sure if the wider hub would work with the Mid front end.
Fender just barely covers the 120 with 3" combo:

I was able to use stock size spacers...just upgraded to chrome:

Stock 19" to a 21" fatty was a good change in handling for me...although it also depends on the tire.

excuse my ignorance, but I purchased this bike used and it has a 21" wheel on it now. I measured the outside width of rim and it shows 3" is this the incorrect way to measure?

Probably would help to tell what the bike is instead of just a Dyna...is it a Wideglide?

Can you get a pic?
