tard needs help removing license plate bracket and screws
I made it clear I have no skills to do even the simplest of accessorie upgrades on my bike... nonetheless, I thought I could at least tackle putting on a layback license plate bracket....my problem is I can't even get the screws off of the old bracket?
Besides being shamefully stupid, is there something I'm missing?
The angle's too severe to simply unscrew the screws and they are in very tight, I don't want to strip them and never be able to get them out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
(better go put on my football helmet before I hurt myself))
RE: tard needs help removing license plate bracket and screws
If you jack up the rear of the bike,it lets the rear tire drop down out of the way so you can get a box wrench, or small socket wrench on the nuts under the fender. The bolts in the bracket run through the bracket and through the fender into the nuts underneath. Get a wrench on those and put some elbo grease behind turnigng those screws. Don't worry about stripping them. Worst case...if you strip out the heads, you can just drill them out and pick up three more at Ace hardware. They don't even have to be chrome because the laydown plate hides them anyway.

Couple buddies and some jack stands or blocks under the frame?
Otherwise, you can use a buddy to stabalize the bike and a large car floor jackw/wood blockunder the frame. Chock and lock the front wheel so it does'nt flop around, and keep weight on it. Have your buddy hold the bike in an upright position while you jack it up and get the bracket off.
Sure seems like a lot of BS just to change the platebracket though.[:@]
RE: tard needs help removing license plate bracket and screws
1)Jack the bike up to releve the pressure off thebottom shock bolts. 2)remove the bottom shock bolts. 3 Jack the rear of the bike up, thewheel (swing arm) will stay on the ground. Now you can make enough room topark a small car in there... Jacking up the bike with the shocks stillattached dosent change much...
