I think you'd be insane to pay $900 to have a set of bars installed. Besides, what is on the bars besides a few $25 switches that a warranty would cover?

Kind of my thought. They told me it would be 10 hours at $87 an hour. It must be pretty close to right because my brother in law was quoted the same price on a bike he was looking to buy.

My main thing is I just want to make sure I am not missing a good reason to let them rape me...

The worst thing you can do to your bike is let a dealership mechanic touch it. My 06 SG had over $4,000 in warranty work done because of multiple dealership "repairs." Then I ended up fixing it myself.

Step 1. Buy a service manual if you don't have one

Step 2. Buy tools for specialty work

Step 3. Do whatever you want to your bike. Screw the warranty

10 hours for a set of bars? Jesus dude. That's a blatant rip off. Even swapping cables you should be able to swap everything out in no more than 3, and that's if you have a hard time pulling wires thru the bends in the bar.

Thanks guy that's how I feel to. I think they tossed on time because they will have to pull my exhaust to install the clutch cable.

I have no issues getting my hands dirty and have a few tool laying around. We race dirt track and I use to do rock crawling. No stranger to mechanical/fab work.

I believe that with a lot of jobs, they just bill you as a flat fee for labor, not actual time.

OEM Brake line and wiring will be long enough. Just have to let brake line loose. Or reroute it at least. Mine were long enough and I'm running 16" bars. I went with +6 clutch and +8 throttle cables. Oh and changing your bars won't void your warranty...

They claim any wiring issues I would own if I extended them myself and honestly I would expect that.

My brake line is an ABS and I already know it has to change as it has a distribution block under the trees so it will be short. I did hear that about the wiring being long enough and if it goes unaltered I will argue with them on the warranty. What brand bars are you running? They look good! I went with the KST's because I like the fact they are polished stainless steel and 1-1/4" at the risers. Also did you pin your bars?

I think your right Emory!

Ahhh I see what you're saying about brake line. You won't need to extend your wiring though. My bars are 16" LA Choppers Twin Peaks. No need to pin them.

Awesome! Now I need to get enough down time to do the swap.
