I agree with this one. If I know my bike is going to sit for more than a couple days, I put the tender on it. I've had the batteries of the Dyna and my quads hooked up to the tender since I put them up at the end of the fall, and they will be good to go. I do this every year and they haven't failed me yet.
One other nice thing about a Battery Tender is it can indicate if you're beginning to have a charging issue if you use the Tender religiously. My bikes are put back on a Tender as soon as they're back in the garage. My '03 Wide Glide suddenly started showing the 'red' charging state holding for a longer time, it had always taken under 1 minute for it to return to a flashing green state then to static green, now it was under the red charge for 5 and 6 minutes, something was amiss with the charging system.
A bit of checking and I was able to determine the rotor had damaged the stator, the magnets in the rotor were coming off. At the point I opened the primary and discovered the problem there were no sound indications of a problem, without the Tender my first warning may have been that horrible grinding sound of the rotor finally letting go 100 miles from home... Things are so much easier to fix in my garage
