Every Harley-Davidson rider knows their favorite H-D model, style, and engine. Our writer Christian has a thing for the Super Glide that wears the title FXR. He loves the lighter chassis, the design details, and the way the bike's become one of the go-to models for incredible customizations.
the sport glide as it use to be called is one I would have bought over the low rider if still made. demo rode them back in the 80's would love to have one with the 103 cid engine.
He's a good friend and letting it go for a lot less than was spent on it. Having seen this bike being built and ridden with it, there is really nothing comparable available out there that is not beat up or beat on.
This bike is the nicest you will ever find. Of all the people I know, the owner is one of the few people so into detail and putting all the best parts on his bikes where most people don't want to spend the money to do it right.
One of teh few guys who will not cheap out on a build and knows he will lose money when he sells it as a result yet still builds it right. That is my piece on this bike and the owner. And to top it of it has very few miles on it since the complete rebuild with new motor, tranny, etc.
Lots of people laugh at the price he is asking but having sold all the parts for the build to him and knowing what was spent on it if I had the cash it'd be in my garage, I mean carport.
So many ways you can do the same exact thing and have it turn out good or bad. To me this looks like a poor approach IMO. The forks are too short giving it that stink bug lifted rear look. Not a fan of that. That particular cowl/chin spoiler doesn't look appealing to me and my favorite is the exhaust shooting right into the bag which I'm sure would make a nice flappy noise lol. Looks like the bags were either added as an after thought or everything ordered at once without realizing the directional overlap of the two. Either way poorly executed IMO. Done slightly different with similar parts and it could have looked bad a$$.
Has anyone rode a Dyna with the full fairing (FXRT or FXRP)? Just wondering how much wind protection it provides. Considering ditching the Rifle on my FXDX and fitting one on.
