I just purchased my first Dyna Wide Glide the other day and I am in love. There is only one thing wrong with it and I was hoping to get a little input from the group. I am having an issue with the speedometer. It is a little hard to explain, so I will do the best I can. When the bike is off, the led back-light on the speedometer stays on. It also gives me an error message saying "bus err". Now, according to the guy I purchased the WD from stated that this has been going on for some time, but that the light eventually turns off. He also stated that he took it into Harley and they could not figure out why it was doing it. Since then, the light stays on pretty much all the time and now when I start it and ride the LED light goes off and doesnt come back on till I turn it off. It does not effect the ride or anything, just can't see how fast I am going at night. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!!
Hi aand welcome!
If that bike is under 2 years old then the warranty is transferred to you, have your local HD guys look at it in that case!
I'm pretty sure your code is a short circuit. If your light is off when it should be on and vice versa it may be as simple as a crossed wire! Hard to tell over the internet!!!
Thanks. Unfortunately mine is an 04 and way past warranty. Since it is not effecting the riding all that much (just not being able to see the speedometer at night) I was kind of hoping to be able to fix it myself. Plan B was to definitely take it in soon and have it looked at.
