Default Panacea tail light died

So I am sitting at a traffic light today and some guy on a sport bike pulls up next to me (which caught me off guard ) and says what I think is "you are a f-ing C u n t". Now I was about to get off the bike to clarify the situation when he lifted his visor and I realized he was saying "your tail light is going nuts". I turned around and looked and the LEDS were sort of jumping around (if that makes sense).

When I got home I pulled the lens and the both wires that attach to the circuit board fell off in my hand. Great. Luckily I kept the old tail light in the garage so I just threw it back on. I did a quick search here and I see that this is a pretty common problem. Anyone else have it happen? Of course I am about a month outside the warranty period. Once again a lesson learned. Do not buy cheap made in China junk.

I think I am going to order (when I have the cash) either a brightasslight LED or a Heavy Cycles LED. You guys have any opinions on these?

Dude,
Don't over-react!
I had the same happen to me. Got with my buddy Kev and we soldered the wires back on to the board. If you can't do it, google for a local electrical shop and they will be able to hook it up for you way better than new. hat was 2 years ago for me and it is still working great. Mine happened in less than a year. I also notice that alot of water gets in there and trying to think of a way to end that too...Will post when I have a decent solution bro.
Good Luck and you will be fine dude.

I did not mean to come across like I was freaking out or anything. It does **** me off a little when something I spent that much money on breaks and requires me to go fixing it in a little over a year. More than likely I will not bother soldering anything, I will buy a new light of higher quality. This seems to be a common issue and I wonder why Kuryakyn has not addressed it.

Now when I thought the guy that told me about it was calling me a "c u n t" I did start to freak out a little

I hear ya bro, I was completely pissed about mine and ready to throw the stock light back on.
Luckily my buddy said cool down and get some beer and the solder iron and we can have this back in action in no time.
It took a whole 20 minutes to get it fixed and is much better than before. I do like you other choices in lights too and would definitely go that route if we were not able to salvage this stinking light!
Post some pics of the light you do go with and at least get that Kury light fixed and sell it on Ebay for a few bucks!

I am not real sure what I am going to do other than not buy anything from Kuryakyn again.

The stock light will stay on for a while as I have a trip to Sturgis planned and a couple of other things I want to do to the bike that take priority. Unfortunately my wish list is a lot longer than my bank statement. It may just have to wait until next winter.

Overhead should you decide to fix/resolder to board apply a thick bead of silicome over the joint and allow to dry. This will help keep the wires from moving at the joint. Had to do that for a few friends bikes. Did it to mine before it happened to me.

By joint you mean where the wires connect to the board? There was a layer of silicone there already, but if I decide to fix it I will give that a shot. Thanks.

Yes the solder joints where the wires connect to the board. Make sure it is a thick bead of silicone covering about 2 inches of wire to help prevent any movement around the joint/connection. I believe there is/was to much movement at the connections causing the wires to break away from the board.

Cool, thanks. Honestly having the Panacea controller jammed under my seat with the PCIII and it was making me a little nervous anyway. Maybe it is for the best it broke. Thank you cheap Chinese solder joints!
