Default Looking for power

Just got a "new" 13 wide glide. Has 103. All my other bikes came with mods already done and I just did the cosmetic side of things. This bike is completely stock, only 300 miles, and I'm wondering which mods are worth doing. I will probably go with pc5 for a tuner unless there is something better for the same money. Thinking vh short shots or similar. The biggest question is about air filter kits/set ups. Is the a big difference from one brand to the other? Will say a Arlen ness stage 2 big sucker be a noticeable improvement over a Kuryakyn Pro-R Hypercharger or even a basically stock filter and cover just change the look a little? I know there are tons of forums out there but a lot get highjacked before I see a clear answer. Thanks for any advice.

Not trying to be rude but why would you worry about power differences of acs and then put Short Shots on?

Really practically zero differences in Stage 1 acs so get one that suits your eye.

Don't short change your fuel tuner, get the best one you can afford and never look back, I like the Power Vision from Fuel Moto.

I couldn't have said that any better, except to emphasize the fact short pipes will not yield great power, just extra loud pipes that don't go anywhere. why else would those be the instant pick for newbs other than the low cost. You have a harley don't get anything cheap for it, you will 95% chance end up regretting your choice - upgrading - and taking a huge hit on them "JMO"

Your next upgrades I recommend head work and the right cams. 103 is already enough displacement to build a very strong motor!

Oh , I don't mean to be rude or come off tough that is just the way it is, we try to help others by stating the truth as we know it.

You said you had other bikes. What was done to them? Alot of guys dont like 2-1 pipes but they usually have the best performance. The thing you need to ask yourself is looks or performance whats more important. There are some 2-2 pipes that do ok performance wise, v&h bigshots have a crossover pipe which helps performance, rinehart has crossbacks which are stepped to make better performance. Ac are really close in performance so that would be what looks best to you. Power gets addicting so have fun and save your money and buy what you want the first time, not what you can afford or you will just end up doing doing it twice. Good luck whichever you decide and post lots of pics.

Like was said before any Stage 1 is about the same and you won't notice any difference in performance. Once again, get the one with the looks and price you like. I personally like DK Customs' intake since they have the external breathers. No breathing dirty oil into your engine.
And again if you are looking for performance then you will need to check out some different pipes. If you want a small improvement in performance, but mostly want looks and sound then go for it.

Get the pipes you want, unless you want to be the fastest. Any Stage 1 air cleaner will be fine with your stock heads. If your porting the heads or slapping on some 110 heads, go with a stage 2 or Zippers max flow. Do the intake, exhaust, cams, and tuner.

Look at the Dynojet site to find what downloads they have available for your bike. Then build 1 you can get a proven program for. My experience is the free downloads are much easier than jacking with dyno time and dollars.

Clear answer:

1) PV, from FM

2) Stage 1 billet kit with the PV

3) D&D Fatcat (Although the Bobcat looks better and that fact alone makes me a better person than the Fatcat owners most Fatcat owners prefer that real long pipe vs. the sportier, more compact, and excellently performing Bobcat).

With either pipe you can't go wrong.

Or do 1 & 2 above with your choice of pipes.

Congrats on the new bike!

Not sure what different tuners you have considered, but Devin (DK) and Kevin use the Power Vision on their bikes and are 100% satisfied. One of the many good things about the Power Vision is it is delivered to you with a Custom Map, for Your Bike, already installed in it. You can plug it in, load the new tune into your bike, unplug it, and be riding with the New Tune in 5 minutes. It also comes with Auto Tune basic.

For the pipes i have heard of many people being happy with the V&H short shots. Go with what sounds best to you

Your biggest question is the AC set up. As stated above i recommend routing externally with a Free Flowing Air Cleaner like the Outlaw 587 or the 636v. These air cleaners do not allow all the hot, dry, oily air back in. And the good thing is even if you see a different Air Cleaner that you like you can still route externally by using a Hose Style Set up.

Can't wait to see pictures of the new bike, hope this information helps you out

Kelsey

Good point, I always mention the deal FM has with the PV and back plate because it gets a person on the road quickly so one doesn't have to rush the decision of a fancy/expensive A/C setup they may change their mind on. I consider it excellent bang for the Stage 1 buck!

But now I will be doing some type of breather myself, so again, something to consider
