Can u guys give me some advice on how to disassemle for porwder coating and reinstalling the forks ? Here are the manuel instructions. I just need a little more help. Says nothing about sag and any tips or tricks u guys can give would be appreciated.
If you're just powdercoating the tubes, you shouldn't need to worry about sag. Sag is just what it sounds like: how much the forks compress under load. It's a suspension tuning issue. If you're happy with how the front end handles now, then you can just reassemble the forks the same way they were originally (same size preload spacer, same oil level) and it shouldn't make a difference.
EDIT: If you haven't done this before, be VERY careful taking the fork caps off. The springs put a lot of tension on them. You need to keep pressure on them the entire time you're unscrewing them and very gradually release that pressure as the caps come out. It can be hard to tell when the threads are no longer engaged, so to be on the safe side, assume all along that you're the only thing holding them in place. If you just unscrew them and don't keep pressure on them, they'll go flying. You don't want them hitting you in the eye, or your gas tank, or just getting lost in the corner.
