That really sucks, did you fill the tank on its sidestand or with bike upright? looks like it could be the fuel gauge gasket

Perhaps E10 destroys clear coat? Can it be repaired by reapplying clearcoat?
Unfortunately the majority of gas sold up here is the E10. I wet it down and wiped off what I could. It had eaten through the clearcoat and paint and into the primer. This is going to be complete repaint.

After wipe down.

It was on it's sidestand. That's what's left me curious.

Refill the tank at the start of the run, not the end!

Wow! That's ridiculous. I can't believe that. Are you sure something is not leaking around your cap or gauge? The lesson I would learn is to NOT put so much gas in the tank. Bummer for sure.

I think ur fuel guage gasket might be bad too...looks like thats where it came from...could be wrong but its a cheap gasket.....had to replace mine last year.....refill ur tank with the trim off the tank to see if thats where it came from..

That had to be seeping all night to do that damage..i spilt gas abunch before i got mine powedered and never had that..

Yea...lookin at that pic again it came from around the guage....go get a new gasket before u repaint. I top mine off all the time on the way home and never have a leak. And the gas station is only .25mile from my house..so it doesn't burn much out before i park it..and i never relined my tank after i got it powdered so i keep it as full as possible..

Owing to her age, a new gasket would be a cheap, and easy, investment. I should be able to knock it out this weekend. Thanks for the insight!
