im looking to buy a 07 dyna low rider: custom color-jake blue and ellwoodblue, chrome wire wheels, removable windshield and sissy bar, and security system. im being told that its one of two leftin my state and they will have to travel to another dealership, about 8 hrs away, for it. the drive out price im given is 21,500. they are also saying that they can not negation price that much because its being brought from another dealership, and its a long transport. the kick is that, it is the bike i am looking for. is it worth it?
I am thinking the answer to your question is a resounding HELL YES! I don't care if it is painted with Jake and Elwood Blues skin, $21,500 for a Low Rider is NUTS!
Go on HD web site look up the bike and parts add them up and see if it is over msrp and if it is by how much then decide if you think it is worth it.
Good luck!
The Bike you are looking for has an MSRP of $16,600. The security system is $325, The Laced wheels are $450. Can you justify the $4+ K for a windshield and sissy bar? Just asking.
As a refference point...in June 05 (yes, 6 weeks before they came out with the Bob! Kicked myself for a while on that one) I picked up my 05 FXD. Your "Drive off" cost for me after stock bike (no extra parts), ext war. PCMP service contract, gap ins. tire contract, licence, dest, title, and total finance over the term was right in the 21K range.
If you have talked to either dealership about all of the things listed above and they are included in your quote, or pretty close to it,I would say that your deal for the Blues Bros Special FXDLsounds pretty fair.+
i was just looking at the same thing! thanks for the info. im going to find the dealership that has the bike and see what they can do. im sure it will be alot better.
Sounds like you already figured out the best option - definitely check with the dealer who has the bike you want and see if they will deliver it to you or buy it and tralier it home. An 8 hour ride on a new bike wouldn't be ideal for a break in because it would be difficult to keep the speed and rpm's down.
