Okay so I bought a new street bob about a month and a half ago... I Went with the v&h big shots staggered in black. There a good looking pipe and sound okay. Well now I'm regretting the desicion of not goin with a 2-1 system of some sort. mainly for the aound and extra torque from the 2-1. I suppose I'm trying to find a way to justify buying another exhaust even with the bike still in the break in period. Think I could sell my v&h pipes maybe?
DK will chime in here but just to add to what they will say....I went from Samson pipes to Vance & Hines Big Shot Longs. I lost a lot of low end. I installed DK's Thunder Torque Inserts and gained almost all of it back. It is well worth the $25-$30.

A +1 for DK Custom Thunder Torque Inserts, they do make a real world difference you will feel I've used them on several different sets of pipes and in each case the TTI's brought back the bottom. I'm currently using them on V&H Big Shots Staggered in chrome with no baffles on my '13 Wide Glide, I have a great tune with a Power Vision and the bike runs strong but adding the TTI's did make a noticeable difference in low end torque and gave a deeper tone to the exhaust, money well spent
These are W158's in my BSS's, I can post up how I did the install if you do decide to go the TTI route...

You could try and sell your pipes or you could try a set of Thunder Torque Inserts. The Thunder Torque Inserts will increases low and mid range torque. They also have adjustable sound volume and tone, this allows you to get the sound you like best for your bike. The video below will give you an idea about the TTI's. Hope this helps you
The Thunder Torques Inserts are an easy install. If you would like you can send me a PM with your email address and i could send you the instructions, if that would help you out
The TTI's are easy to install, but on some pipes they require a bit more work to get a nice fit. On the V&H Big Shots Staggered that the OP and I are running the heat shield is full coverage down toward the billet tips, my shields were quite tight to the header pipe so using a lower profile nut wasn't going to work, I'd never get the heat shields over it.
I needed to use a dremel with a cut off wheel and some files to cut a notch in the heat shields for the TTI locking nut to slide in so I could properly mount the heat shields and tips. I've seen some pictures posted by people who've drilled a hole through the heat shield and mounted the TTI's lock nut on the outside of the heat shield to save themselves some work but that distorts the heat shield and looks a bit too 'shade tree' for me Another option with full coverage heat shields is to make a hole in the heat shield larger than the TTI lock nut, install the shields then install the TTI's but I went the notch route so I could remove the heat shields without disturbing the Inserts.
If you're installing the Inserts on a set of pipes without heat shields like the V&H BSS's have it's going to be a 'wham bam thank you ma'am' install. Heat shields like I've got and you end up pulling the exhaust off the bike and do a bit of cutting and fitting but in the end, the Torque Inserts are worth it

Reason: typo... doh!
All very nice advice but I have to interject here D-rob. You are considering modifying a set of brand new pipes meanwhile diminishing their value to anybody who really wants a set of V&H big shots almost new with no scratches. Now face it you may accidently scratch or marr them up messing with them not to mention haveing no baffles.
So if I may suggest, grab your smart phone and snap a few picks then upload them to ebay, caraigslist, or kijiji, chances are they will be sold the next day. Obviously your going to loose some coin, but we all make mistakes like that one and as long as you get back 80% of your money back- at least they don't end up on a shelf collecting dust, because if your already regretting your 1 month old puchase you will eventually get what you really want which is a 2:1 system, only by the time you give in they may be worth already less money than right now.
You want a 2:1 system get one and don't look back, easy lesson learned. This applies to all future purchases as well, it's always easier to spend the money than get something else and regret it.

Real talk right there. Money or happiness....choose wisely
on a stock stage 1 the difference between the bigshots and the bassani roadrage were very minimal on my bike . did back to back comparisons the 2 into 1 made 2 ft lbs more torque and the bigshots made more hp on the dyno.
not enough to justify switching to the bassani so I sold it. the bigshots sounded better IMHO.
If you're having regrets now, you most likely will later. Cut your losses and sell your current pipe for a reasonable price since its lightly used and get a proper 2:1 and dont look back.
Won't regret getting a D&D, Thunderheader, RB Racing, V&H Pro Pipe, plus few others.
EDIT: buddy is going through the same dilemma.....has V&H Short Shots and fell in love with the sound of my D&D, which will be his next purchase over the next winter.
