I have seen posts about the compensaver. I also see that the new bikes have a deflector as part of the primary case. With the older models, you can glue a deflector in. Which would be the better way to go? The deflector can be purchased from the dealer and is alot cheaper than the compensaver. Will this glued in deflector from Harley work just as well as the compensaver. I have a 2012 Fat Bob. Thanks for any info or susgestions.
Dude, the oil deflector is there for 2014 SE comp. The roller thrust bearing requires lubricant, it has no use if you have an older compensator and glue the deflector on. Compensaver is made by GMR, different animal.

Yes 128 has it right. The saver directly flows the oil whereas the glued piece setup, that I have gathers and flicks it in the direction. Definitely more oil flow to the comp w/ GMR setup.
If you upgrade to a 14 SE comp you can add the compensaver too. The glue in scoop that comes with the SE comp must be used even with the compensaver. I have both and so far so good. The thrust washer that comes with the compensaver really quiets the banging.

The older CompenSavers for pre 2014 SE compensaters has been discontinued. If you were to use the CompenSaver with your 2012 compensater it would still help but you would still need the HD glue in tray too and still remember that your compensater, like mine is not a great version.
I am in line to get the new Baker compensater very soon.
I have a 2011 ultra with 109,00o miles on it i have had my share of comp gear prolems, had five installed under the esp plan. My latest one has been in since 8/14 now has 22500 miles on it. Has always been very noisy
when cold. Tried the gmr compensaver last month and put a new spring pack in.my compensater the new se one, my comp was in like new condition
no fretting no marks no dry spots.still noisy as hell when cold. I put the gmr tray and thrust washer in ran for about 1500 miles still noisy.
Took primary back apart and found no oil was geting on the upper part of primary the oil tray was blocking the oil. Took it out and put a new se gear. In my experience the harley se comp gear with the new oil deflector does a better job. I dont know what the composite washer does but mine is just as noisy.dont know what to do now
