15 Dyna Street Bob Fault
Hey guys,
I bought a new 15 plate SB earlier this year. I have had it since March and have put nearly 600 miles on it now.
Yesterday i took it out and noticed a problem with it...When i shifter it into the higher gears, 4, 5 and 6 and twist the throttle it just high revs up to around 4000+rpm with no power at all and on the trip it goes down to 3rd gear.
I have called the dealership and have it booked in for Saturday (obviously still under warranty). Im guessing it may be a problem with the clutch or something, just wondering if anyone has had this problem before?

The revving-and-no-power stuff sounds like the clutch is slipping. Probably just need to adjust the clutch cable length and/or the clutch adjuster nut (in the center of the clutch basket under the Derby cover) as the bike's settling/running in. A fairly easy job if you like wrenching your bike by yourself but as you say it's still under warranty, easiest to get the shop to do it...
Not sure what you mean by "on the trip it goes down to 3rd gear" though. Do you mean that, even though the bike is in say 5th gear, the instruments say it's in third? If so, not sure what that's about...

Yeah that is exactly what i mean mate, i didn't explain it great. But yeah, very strange. when i go down the gears it is in 5th just saying 3rd on the instruments.
Thanks for the reply mate, i might have a look at it myself later and see what i can do. Otherwise i will just let the dealership sort it out, weather here is poor at the moment anyway and i will complain about the problem as i have only had the bike 8 weeks. Be nice if they throw in a free t shirt
