I recently bought Street Bob model '07. Can I take exaust pipes off?
I've heard that if i take pipes off and put new ones the bike won't work. Is that true?

If you replace your pipes you just need to replace them with pipes that have the bung for O2 sensors welded in..Not that hard to do as this is the 2nd year that the Dynas have the sensors and all the aftermarket companies are up to speed...Hope this helps...Later
I believe what these people who are telling you thismay be referring to is that when you replace the stock exhaust with a less resterictive performance exhaust, you are allowing the exhaust gases to flow more freely from the engine. In addition, if you also replace the air cleaner with a similar less restrictive A/C thus allowing more air into into the engine you arealtering the Air Fuel (A/F) mixture which will result in a lean running condition.A lean A/F ratio will cause your bike to run hot and possible result in damage or at the very least premature wear. In order to combat this lean condition, you will then need to purchase some sort of adjuster module allowing you to make adjustments to the A/F ratio commonly referred to as "mapping". There are several products that will allowyou to accomplish this including but not limited to the Harley Davidson Race Tuner, Power Commander, or V&H Race Fueler ?.
Typically, these installs along with a few dyno runs and custom mapping will gain you increased HP and Torque. This is commonly referred to as a "Stage 1" upgrade.I have heard that you can change just the pipesand not have to remap aslong as you do not change out the A/C. The theory is that changing just the pipes does not allow more air to enter the combustion chambers and will notresult in a lean run condition. This would of course assume that the stock A/C is already operating at max effiency in it's stock configuration. Another words, is unable to flow more air, which I doubt. However,if this is not the case then a less restrictive exhaust alonewould also result in a lean run condition. If you wish to increase the exhaust note of your bike, why not go all the way and complete the Stage 1 upgrade properly and gettheHP. and torque gains as well.
