Default Strapping Down Tailbags

Hey all. I'll be heading out on a trip in a few weeks and I've got some new tail bags that I haven't used yet. I'm going to do a few test runs down the road of course with them before the trip, but I'm looking for some tips from others on how to secure/strap them down. Not worried about anyone stealing them per say, just don't want to lose them going down the highway. I would like to air on the side of caution to make sure they are secured, so extra strap ideas would be great.

I've got the Viking Axe-33 and a couple other miscalleanous bags. All pretty much resemble a duffle bag.

Those are the main ones I've got plus a couple generic tail bags that are smaller. I figure those I can strap to the top of the larger ones if I feel like I need more bags. The Viking bag will go on mine, and the Nelson will go on the wife's WG.

I'd need a picture of your bike setup to give any advice. Maybe you have a pic and it isn't showing up on this garage talk app.

I don't know that there will be a ton of wind hitting the bags. I strapped down a 30 and 10 liter bag on a speed triple and they were fine. Bags made by Kriega, had 4 straps (2 per side) that attached in 2 places under the seat. The 10 liter bag sat on top of the 30 liter and it was probably a good 18" tall. I rode that bike down twisty roads and some highway...no issue.

On my Street Bob I would strap a bag to a sissy bar if possible.

Pretty much my bike is an '11 SB with a Corbin Solo Touring seat with back rest. Nowhere special to strap things on besides lights and such. I will post a pic later when I'm near a computer instead of my phone.

Those two bags are for sissy bars, not big enough, you need to buy complete set up, roll bag attatches to the top of main bag.

Viking Lashed to Detachable rack.

This isn't going anywhere. Did 350 miles in one day. Worked perfectly. I did make some additional lashing that is not in this picture, from the top down, but it's solid. If I want to take it off, I just remove the whole rack and leave the bag attached.

1" straps with buckles like these work great since they stay secure and you can use them for compression straps like securing the bag behind you to form a back rest.

I may spring for a rack sometime for just this. Won't be able to for this trip though.
How did you run your extra straps?

These look like they would work perfectly for extra. Just don't know that I completely trust the straps and bungees that come on the bags.

What does everybody think about using upper shock mounts and/or turn signals as anchor points?
Also, cross the straps (like a X), or run 2 straps parallel?
