Just picked up a new 2007 Dyna SuperGlide Custom. I am looking to upgrade the exhaust, mainly for the sound, and wanted some info on what the differences/benefits of slipons are compared to a full new set of pipes. I have been looking at Vance and Hines Straight-Shot HS Slipsons.
Also any suggestions on what ACs/tuner combination would work well without breaking the bank?
I have seen some mention of people not installing exhaust until after the 1000mile service. Is there a reason for this? Also, is that kind of upgrade (exhaust and air cleaner) something that isn't too tough to do at home. I assume you would have to hit a shop for the mapping? Newbee if you couldn't tell.
Sammi mentioned that he already had the Stage 1. I thought a 'Stage 1' was the combination of a new exhaust, air cleaner an mapping????? Are there good air cleaner upgrades out there that use the stock air cleaner cover.
Trying to figure all this out. Thanks for the help!
The 1,000 mile thing is b.s. , plain and simple. If it weren't, why would stealers add them on out the door?
If you wanna go with a full on set, plan on doing some type of tuner (the opinions vary around here on which oneis best), an A/C and a dyno run if your not going with some type of AutoTune setup. This is not the most economical way to go if you just got the bike but IMHO the best way to go.
I wish I had waited to do the full-on thing instead of wasting money on slips. Not that I do not like my cycleshack slip ons, I just wish I had gone full tilt the first time out. Lesson learned, but then again, I am a much more informed person after reading all the great input provided on these forums. Take your time and don't listen to squat about what the stealer tells you. Listen to the folks who ride and have years of personal experience here on these boards and anyone else you might know who rides and H-D. Most of all, use your own best judgement after gathering all the pertinent info.
slip ons are a cheap way, they still look stock, knothing makes more of a difference in appearance and power than a full set, as stated above you will evid want full set
