Yeah this sounds like the purfect upgrade to my FXD. I'm 6' 2" and while I can make the current mids work I wouldnt mind them a couple of inchs forward. This is my around town/weeknight backroad bike so I want the feeling of mids under me.
I just put a set on a few weeks ago... had regular mids before. they cleared my Theader fine. I'm happy with em, granted I got em for free. Dont know if I'd pay what theyre asking for em but if you can get a set of take offs Id go for it. Im 6'3" and they take a little kink outta my knees. Run highway pegs on the forward mount position, perfect setup for me.

Sounds like the set up I'm shooting for. I call my local dealership and they don't sell take offs. Guess eBay/here will be the place to find them.
I just put highway pegs on this past weekend. The Drag Specialties mounts with some leftover pegs from my extra parts bin. Nice way to stretch out my legs without being stuck with forward controls. Dennis Kirk has the mounts for $68.
I noticed in the 2 reviews on HD's site that people complained about the brake lever being to far down. is that just them not knowing how to adjust it or does this kit use all the length the brake rod has?
It has to do with the design of the headers. Mine are split around the cam so the space for the controls is pretty tight and the brake had to be set low; you get used to it. If your headers both rap around the front similar to the stock fxdl headers you would not have this issue. Check with the manufacturer to see if they fit and fxdl and you should be good.
