Does anybody know what oil HD puts in the SB from factory? Was digging thru the garage and found enuf HD20W50 to change the oil in my bike. Also would the Sport Trans fluid work ok in the gear box? The sport trans fluid bottle does not show any vicosities, but says gear and chaincase lubricant. Just wondered if anyone has any comments on this. Thinking about dumping the factory oil as I'm sitting on 500 mi. now.

I am not understanding the discussion of changing oil after 500mi. Harley would sure love to sell more oil, filters and services and they say 1,000 miles is OK. Why give more money to the oil companies and terrorists who run them than we have to, not to mention the HD dealers who sell the stuff?
I have a new 07 Dyna with 350mi now, the oil looks perfectly clear on the dipstick and I am confident that the filter will trap any break-in shavings etc.
I agree that if we could change the oil more often the better, but there is a point of decreasing return.
