Go with the Syn3 H-D sells or buy Amsoil full synthetic and change y er own oil.
I got the SVO 75-90 in the transmission and MCV20w50w in the other holes. Amsoil has a chrome oil filter too.
If you git a manual and learn how to change yer own oil you can save money and go with synthetic.
Oil additive is for organic oil. YOu DO NOT ADD OIL ADDITIVES TO SYNTHETIC OIl. By the time you put organic oil in yer bike and put oil additive in you could of bought synthetic oil. Sunthetic oil is the best oil you can do for yer bike. Hello !
Cardboard, Lucas makes a synthetic oil additive. Slick'r than Snot!! I run Syn3, with Lucas additive. Not trying to make converts, just my .02. Might want to go to the Lucas website for some info; http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...2&loc=show.
I used to run a lot of spectrometric oil analysis (atomic absorption) to determine what metals were in the oil. Different bearings use different metals. This told me what bearing was beginning to fail. I was running synthetics back in the '70's.
I agree that a good maintenance regiment for oil/filter changes is important. If I've not ridden my bike for a few days, I don't like starting a "dry" engine. The additive helps the oil "cling" better. My buddy was having problems with valve train noise, actually enhanced by his windshield, and adding the Lucas quitened it down. You would have been impressed with the difference.
What type oil, gas, tires , seat, chrome, wheels, etc. is a personal choice. The thread was asking about "Lucas Oil" and I responded with my experience of using Lucas.
I wouldnt. How much time and science goes into getting an oil right. Say an oil is 70% friction, 20% heat, and 10% other, add somthing else, wether good or not and you just screwed with the whole formulation, say 80% friction, 10% heat, 10% other. You may gain 1 thing but at the expence of another. With that in mind I love the syntheticsMobil1 baby.[sm=biker2.gif]
