Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I have a bone stock 2010 ultra glide with 30k.
When twisting, removing oil dipstick I get a prolonged rush of air emitting from case.
Even a 10 second run of engine will produce this air pressure.
No oil wetting around air filter.
No leaks anywhere.
Engine runs great.
Lessened oil level to halfway below full on stick.
I hear conflicting advice, even from dealer service departments annoying.
Perhaps some in-depth reputable knowledge on our forum.
Dont want to risk any damage in this state.
Thanks all.
Jim
try a newer style breather as in the S&S style that does away with the stock foam oil extractor which can harden and coke up over time. those rubber umbrella valves also degrade and fail to seal.
Pull the A/C cover and pull the tubes off the breather bolts, put your finger over the holes with the engine running, see if you can feel pulsing, you can even pull the breather bolts and check.
After running with the tubes and/or bolts removed, see if it still has pressure when removing the dipstick.
If it does, need to go into the rocker boxes and dig into the breathers.
