today I noticed the horn, on the 2002 Super Glide I just bought, vibrating wildly at idle.
On closer inspection I found both bolts for the "top engine stabilizer bracket" missing. That is the bracket that holds the "engine end" of the "top engine stabilizer link" in place. I can replace the bolts easy enough, but I don't know what size or length the bolts are. It also worries me as to why the bolts are missing in the first place.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Ron
Thanks Don
I looked at Ronnies Microfiche last night to identify what it was, but could not get the size, pitch and length.
Thanks again for your help. Now I am off to the hardware store. I am hoping to get them back in without removing the tank.
Ron
Got the bolts and put them in. Had to take the seat off and remove the rear fuel tank bolt, lifted the rear of the tank and slipped a short piece of 2X4 in to hold it up. Whole job took about 10 minutes. When for a ride and didn't notice much difference. Maybe it ran a little smoother.
Sure would like to know what happened to the old bolts.
Since it seems that you discovered that at least one of them cannot just fall out, it would appear that somebody forgot to put them back in when reassembling after a job...and while you are wondering where they went, he is wondering where those two bolts leftover from the job go...

You are probably right, the 10000 mile service was done 2 years ago in Florida, then it came to Iowa and only has 12000 miles on it now. I suspect the elderly gentleman, (he is 70, am only 69) I got it from never even knew they where missing.
If you want to upgrade your linkage to stainless steel, then take a look at Landmark Mfg. in Oceanside, Ca for their products. They make stuff for HD too.
