So my clutch has still been kind of acting up on me and I bit the bullet and took it to the dealer this morning.
While the mechanics were taking a look at my bike I decided to test drive some bikes to kill time.
1st was a used 2015 Street Glide. Had a lot of add-ons & accessories already but still had stock seat and stock handle bars. Ride wasnt too bad but I really wasnt that impressed by it. The biggest plus I thought was the dual disc in the front and the 103 has a decent amount of muscle compared to a stock 96 (obvious I know but I still liked it).
2nd was a new 2015 Road Glide. It was a base model, nothing too fancy but man did it handle well! I can see how people like these bikes, it was amazing how stable and precise it felt in cornering. It was actually easier to throw around then my WG in my opinion.
The RG got me interested and I let them throw some numbers at me. I was offered I think a fair amount for my WG (I would have bumped them up a little bit more), and the financing was 0.99%. Not that shabby of a deal.
So I called the boss at home. She is such a good wifey, her answer was if you really like it and want it, get it. But if you are not 100% in love with it, sit on it for a while.
So in the end I told them I would pass. They were willing to pay my shop fees for today (which wasnt that much); and even looking at putting on apes included in the deal. That got me really close to pulling the trigger.
But in the end I just like my WG way too much to let her go right now. Its taking me a while to get her just the way I like, it fits like a glove, has that nostalgic chopper look (imo), and I just couldnt see myself not getting many more years of enjoyment out of it!
Maybe somewhere down the road ill make the switch, and I now definitely do understand why people switch, but I just cant let go of my WG!
I think when I am financially to the point where I can keep my WG and get a RG I will make the plunge. Right now it just doesnt make since to start a new bill when this one is almost gone. As soon as I got back on my WG and cranked it up I knew I made the right choice!
Had a Street Glide and Road Glide. Pluses and minuses with both. I bought the Dyna in 2011, and have enjoyed it more than the others. Considered trading for a Softail Slim a few times, but the cost difference is just too much to justify getting a bike kinda similar to my current one.
I still believe that the Dyna is the best model line, and would like to try a Fat Bob, to see how it handles, but wouldn't own one without it having mids, as my back can't take forwards.
