Ok Gents...I need advice. I am about to buy my first Harley. The bike I am looking at is a 2004 FXD Super Glide. It has 3K miles along with SEII pipes, anice touring 2 up seat, sissy bar, a few chrome upgrades, and upgraded suspension. Selling price is $11,995. As far as I can see, the bike has been well taken care of...not even a scratch. Whatdya think?
MSRP for that bike NEW is $11,995. Offer him $10,300. If he balks, tell him that an 06 with many improvements and a 6sp tranny is only a few hundred more than he's asking. Sounds like a nice bike though. I bought a new 04 FXD and really like it.
Oh, and IMHO the FXD is a better bike than the FXDI but use the fact that it's NOT FI as a bargaining chip. Tell him that you REALLY wanted a bike with FI even if you prefer a carb as I do. lol.... Also tell him that you are not wild about slip-ons and that you will still have to buy pipes for it, rejet and add a high-flow ac. Even "perfect" bikes can be picked apart during the buying process. lol.... OH, and one last thing.... Tell him that you have two other Harley's to look at in the same price range, an 04 Fatboy and a 05 Wideglide.... Ya gotta know how to shoot the **** when buying...
I recently bought a brand new 05 Super Glide FXDI and paid $11,500. The SEII Pipes list for 229.00 but you can get them for less and a sissy bar and pad are about 60.00 each. $11995.00 seems like he rode it for 3000 miles and expects not to pay for the depreciation. $10,500 would seem to be the price I'd be looking at, especially if there is no warranty remaining, if there's a warranty, perhaps a little more.
I think I looked ast that same bike,Silver at HD of Dallas ?
If so I got him down to $10500 for that Bike and then I changed and went with an 05 FXDC Super Glide Custom left over for 12,900 with some extras on it (Touring Seat and Mini Apes).
I would work him on the price if that is the Bike you want, I also looked at the HD Dealer in Beford and they were willing to deal on 05 Left overs there also.
Just my 2 cents...
If you end up getting one, drop me a note we can hook up to ride together
Looks like Houston will be fine. It may flood on the loop though as it is prone to do. I'm kinda far out in the country but I plan on doing the Stevie Ray Vaughn remembrance ride out of Dallas.

NADA retail value is $11,640 average with a low retail at $8,850, but says some custom features like chrome, engine modifications, paint, and market value can add 10 -30 % to price. When I was talking to sales guy at our local dealer they were only offering to give me $8,500 trade in on a 05 FXD 1,000 miles ,with pipes ,air breather ,carb kit,aux lights ,and a windshield. I'd offer the guy $9,000 and work from there ,cause if it's at a dealer you know they only gave the guy around $7,500 for it .
