2007 FXDL, blinkers, dash lights or starter button all not working. Son dropped the bike at a stop sign and broke the left rear blinker but the only thing that wasn't working then was the head light and running/brake lights. Even the broke blinker was still working. Started it up and rode home. We changed out some fuses and got the headlight and running/brake lights working but now dash lights, blinkers and the starter button will not work. Any ideas? Thanks
Need some more info to at least offer some tips/tricks:
1. Was bike just "dropped" or is there more to the story (e.g. crash, skid, flip, etc.)?
2. Any electrical or bar mods?
3. Were there any pinched wires in the blinker?
4. Battery condition (new/old)?
5. What fuses were swapped?
6. Are battery cables clean/tight (both ends)?
I would make sure that your system relay and start relay are working (clicking)... I've had mine and my brother's go bad on our '06s.
Numbers 1 and 1 are your relays and I have found after opening one up that they get corrosion on the contacts inside. You could pop them open and clean them out...or just replace for peace of mind.
You can also swap them although I think one is a five blade and the other a 4....just to see if say, you get your starter button to work.
Tried to open the 1 n 2 relay's but couldn't so I'm waiting for my local Auto Zone to open to see if they may have them. It was just a drop, no crash. Only mods is the run/brake/flash module but that seems to be working ok.
UPDATE: No luck at Auto Zone with the relay's but I did buy a pack of 15A fuses and replace every fuse with new ones and WHALA, everything works now. Still need to fix/replace the left rear blinker since it's just dangling there but for now, gorilla tape will have to do. It'll get him home anyways.
