I was taking my 2010 Street Bob in for state inspection and about 1/4 mile from the dealer the bolts sheared off. I was going about 50 merging onto the highway when they broke. The bolts only had about 100 miles on them since my wheels were changed, new bolts were used. Good part is once I pushed it up the off ramp it was all downhill to the dealer, coasted to the service dept. door. I know, check them. I just went over the whole bike last Friday and they seemed fine. It was the chrome bolts, I wonder if the plain ones are any better?
...bolts sheared off....It was the chrome bolts, ...
There it is, proofs in the pudding, "chrome won't get you home"!!
Kidding aside, interesting about how you just had them removed and installed. You say somebody did the work right, not yourself, was it the same shop you made it to?
Something don't sound kosher or it's one heck of a coincidence.
I think I'm going to speculate it was improper installation, I'm only an example of one but I've used the #94773-07 chrome hardware on multiple scoots with zero issues, but there is an instruction sheet included in the kit for a reason
I am sure they were installed right, just a freak thing. This time I will take advice and mark them so I can see if they are loose quickly. It just goes to show the idea that it won't happen to me is the wrong one to have.
