Anyone running a sert use it to lower idle from factory 950 - 1000 rpm's to 700- 800 rpm's. If so any issues. Spoke to the wrench at local dealer he said no big deal, others have told me lowering idle speed may cause oil press. problems. I love my dyna and I like the fuel inj. but I cant stand 1000 rpm idle.
Thanks, ravin cajun
Unfortunately I'm not on a computer now that has the SE software installed so I can't open up my maps to give you exact numbers but I have lowered my idle speed for most temperature ranges. HOWEVER, going as low as you propose is NOT a good idea with fuel injection.
I've lowered it, but not nearly that much. I have mine in the upper 800's to low 900's depending on temp. The low end of the spec that I've read for a TC is 900 so anything below that is technically out of the safe range in terms of oiling. Carb or EFI probably doesn't matter here, the limit is all about pumping enough oil to keep your engine alive. Personally, I feel comfortable dipping *slightly* below that but not 700.
Thanks' guys I appreciate the feed back, I've run into a few guys running aftermarket ecm's with really low idle speeds. Kinda reminded me of shovelheads that idled so low you thought it would die between power strokes. But this might be why they needed a top end every 10k or so.
guys, can the sert be installed and managed at home by simpletons like me. based onthe responses, sounds like it can. im not computer illiterate, i've actually built a fuel injection controller from my truck and managed the fuel/air and ignition via my laptop. is this something i can handle?

Youneed to have some idea of what you're doing but for the most part it's pretty simple. You can always revert back to the stock SERT map at any time so it's not like you can't play around and experiment.
