Seems in just about every thread someone is asking whether or not to buy the quality part or just alter stock equipment!
We've spent so much on our Harley's already shouldn't we just do the right thing and dish out the dough$$?
Stop f@#$ing up our/you're bikes and lay down that cash..
Thoughts...
I look at it as what is being done and is it safe or quality.
For example... if I wanted a tinted / smoked lense I could either buy one or tint it myself, I'll do that myself
But
If i wanted to lower the bike, cutting springs or drilling new mounting holes may be free but its hack as hell and that needs to have money invested
I also justify the "quality parts" for my bike being that I have a ton of cash in it. I tell myself this exact thing. "I spent ALLLL THIS MONEY on it and I'm sure as **** not going to short quality on this cheap crap instead of getting what I want? (click, buy). I just talk myself into to cool **** like that I think though lol.
As far doing straight up STUPID **** like gutting your cats hacking off mufflers etc and not even as much as re-tuning it or slapping the cheapest mufflers you could find that would fit on your stock a$$ head pipe and not even as much as a tuner gets purchased. Yes, that's absolutely retarded IMO. Seriously what's another $1000 - $3000 bucks on a bike you just dropped 13 - 16k on to make it 10 times more enjoyable? Pennies in the bucket...
I agree with you on tuning the bike when adding a part that effects performance, but getting on folks for modding their bike the way they want is a little ridiculous.....
I have more respect for someone that thinks of innovative ways of customizing their bike their own way, without throwing down a ton of cash for something. Let's get real...Harley parts are marked up stupid.
People did this stuff back in the old days when the automobile and motorcycle were invented....It's called Hot Rodding.
