hey i have a 2006 fxd35 with spoke wheels and i am changing wheels over to 2014 lowrider mags. i know the wheel bearing are different sizes but im wondering if the spacers are also different size or are the hubs the same width? thanks
I did the opposite of what you are doing. Went with older wheels on newer bike. The difference is: the newer 25mm bearings are more narrow than the older 1" bearings. I had to put in wider spacers. The overall diameter for the bearings where they fit in the hubs was the same. Hoped this helped.
The older bikes used the 3/4/ 21s' some 06s & 07s' I think used 1"ers and after that I think it was all 25mm and the thinner 15mm width bearing. (bad idea IMO)
I am doing what Robbie kind of did, with older wheels on a newer bike but I am going with wider 21mm, 25mm bearings and a shortened inner spacer.
thanks for the input guys. i ordered new 1" bearing, just waiting on delivery. ill take some measurements once its all apart and post what i find for future reference. hoping to get to it this weekend and will post pics of anything i find needs special attention
i ordered 1"x21mm. ive read the swith to 15mm was to fit with the abs but my bike isnt equipped with that. i do want to convert to dual disc down the road but wont be happening right away
Got the swap done. Was able to use all stock spacers and replaced the bearings. Front bearings stayed at 21mm wide and had to use 15mm width bearings in the rear. Need to purchase the right lower leg so I can run the dual front brakes. I have everything else already. Bike feels a lot tighter with the new wheels compared to the spokes.
