You hardly ever see an FXR for sale around here anyway. Would love to have one. Too many bikes I want and not enough $$...
I had a Troublehead once...1972 FX...one serious POS. I could go for another one just for short fun runs but not for long rides...too unreliable. Don't know much about EVOs...wasn't into Harleys when they were big.

EVOs were incredibly reliable and made great power easily. And the FXRT is the best touring bike MoCo ever had a hand in producing, IMO.
This old TC 88 in the FXD I got now has been pretty reliable...51K miles, daily rider. A hell of a lot more reliable than that old FX. The furthermost I ever could ride that POS was 50 miles from Imperial Beach to Escondido on the way to Long Beach, Californication...then it broke...again...that bike almost ruined me on Harley Davidsons...I rode metrics for years after that experience...
I second the motion on the Evo. I own a twin cam Dyna and a 95 FLHTC.
The Evo dresser is still my "go to" bike.
Chevy truck is like a rock, Evo is like a tractor.
the legendary bike... i wonder if rouke still rides that thing. there some scenes in the movie where he was having a really hard time with the raked out front and keeping it up. pretty funny that they made the film cut.
I have spent many, many days and nights working on shovels for myself or friends. I LOVE them, but you will absolutely lose reliability if your crossbones is in good working order.
For most people, not that big of a deal. If I were you, I would look for an EVO FXR. They are the greatest bikes ever made by MoCo. I wish I still had mine.
Oh great. I just traded in my 1995 FXD too. It was a great bike though...
Hope my FXDL is as good....
