stem bearings
Are the bearings in the steering neck/stem the same sizes (top and bottom)? Local shop said that they need to be replaced...and i guess along that note, any other suggestions? I am going to be replacing the races too.

Ask to see the old brgs to make sure you really needed them. I think, most of the time, one doesn't need a lot of the stuff the dealer claims you do. I have a shop and always show the customer the part and why it needs/needed the part. I did change the neck brgs on my buddy's Suzuki because the brgs were so bad that it ratcheted when turning. They were brinnelled really bad, but he had well over 100k on the bike-- just sayin ! Btw-- always change the races with the brgs--
