Ok... Cranked up my bike today... Went to ride off, and as soon as i put the bike in gear the headlight turns off. I take it back out of gear, the light comes back on... When the key is in but the engines off its fine... Only when the engine is running. I have an 06 dyma lowrider. Any ideas? I'm baffled.

First question: Did you do ANYTHING to the bike lately? Anything at all (besides riding it)?Originally Posted by Joedirt26

I removed the top of the tank to unclog a fuel line and tested the wiring for the fuel injectors to make sure they were getting signal from the computer.

Why did you have to check for an injector pulse, are you chasing 2 different demons here, and how did you check, did you back probe the plug, pierce the wire, use a jumper...? Originally Posted by Joedirt26

Sounds like there might be a loose ground/connection somewhere and with the bike in gear, it's sourcing it thru the headlamp circut. Or maybe your ignition switch is shorting out and can't handle the increased voltage load?
I was tracing an issue with the fuel system. Used a noid light to test the injectors. I found I had no fuel pressure cause the fuel line clogged up. That issue is fixed. Lol

Oops, you hooked up your headlight to your neutral light circuit. Originally Posted by Joedirt26

Are you CERTAIN that this is the only thing electrically happening? If so, this is pretty specific and unusual because they are unrelated actions so it should not be hard to duplicate and isolate.
Light bulb? ~ Did you check both low and high beams?
Bright/dim switch and turn signal switch wiring? ~ Does it go out when you physically go into gear or when you pull the clutch lever in? Does putting on the front brake or turn signals effect it?
Wiring behind the headlight/idiot lights? ~ Look at the wiring and see if there are broken wires or recessed connector pins; shake the wiring and see if you can duplicate the failure. Pay close attention to the ground wires. Could be something here with the neutral light circuit.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

stupid question: is this in all gears?
It happens when I push the shifter into 1st gear. Pops into neutral it comes back on... Put into second goes off again. And no there are no other issues. Brake light stays on just fine. Lights on speedo and tach work fine. Clutch has nothing to do with it. Doesn't change anything. I'll disconnect the switch when I get to the bike and see if it changes anything
