Been looking at stage 1 intake/air cleaner, just can't make up my mind , looking at the Ness Big sucker, Kuryakan Veliceraptor or the DK customs array, I know DK boast having clean air going into the engine versus oily air, but Kurayakan and the Arlen Ness don't mention anything about diverting the what I would call blow by externally. any help would be appreciated. thanx in adavance
I've got a DK 636v with the external breathers and love it.
Very well built unit, noticeable gains, and awesome customer service. I had the mount that attaches with the breathers on mine crack (due to another known vibration issue) and they sent me another bracket that was thicker at no cost and no questions asked. PLus the 636v added more leg room so I dont knock my knee my air intae any more when using my highway pegs mounted in the forward control mounts.
I chose to stay away from both Kuryakan and Arlen Ness products. Mostly personal preference and people behind the brands, but IMO the Ness A/C's look like something you make in your garage from a soda can and the Kuryakan stuff just looks tacky and cheap. And I wasnt going to pay HD prices for an intake that didnt have external breathers like the DK.

DK Custom The Kuryakyn and the Arlen Ness vent crankcase gasses back into the A/C unless you want to go through the hassles of modifying them to vent to atmosphere; DK Custom was the only A/C I considered for my Wide Glide I've used their breather bolts and am currently using a horseshoe breather venting crankcase gasses to a Uni filter. Pre EPA sticking their nose in everything that's how it was done... and it works. Your engine will be much happier if you're venting the hot oily gasses to atmosphere...
Hey Tincup, is that a temp gauge bolted to your back head? Where did you get that at?
It's an oil pressure gauge, a Jerzee Customs JC-9100TC. It's beautifully made and I love being able to see oil pressure at a glance. It's installed by removing the oil pressure switch from the case and installing the Jerzee Customs adapter. The Russell stainless steel oil line and the oil pressure switch attach to the adapter; you'll have oil pressure and the dash oil pressure indicator still will work: http://www.jerzeecustoms.com/HDProducts.htm
A bit better view of it, you can see the horseshoe breather in this image:
This is my S&S stage 1 I put on my 2015 Breakout. Noticeable tq. Gain upon leaving stop lights and just cruising around town. They are a little pricey but i wanted somthing i haven't seen around where i live lol.
