Cabin fever is kicking in. Need to swipe my credit card soon.
I'm 5'9.5 and typically wear a half helmet. Fxdb 2015. I don't usually ride long but I got a long ride with buddies in a few mths so I better equip myself with one.
1. What shield height are you guys using if you are around my height? I definately want to see over the windshield and a have a clear sight line of the road and hate looking through windshields. I'm also going recurved and want the air to hit my helmet or higher (not my face).
17 or 18.5? Any pics of rider and shield would be cool too.
2. Anyone know of any upcoming sales on clearview this month or next? I'll prob also go with the quick detach hardware from HD. Just gotta confirm with HD part numbers and double check it will fit with clearview I want.
I'm the same height as you, and I run a Memphis shades 17in and their cafe fairing.
I like the windshield for when it gets cooler out, and long rides. I can see over it fine, unless I'm slumped down in my seat and feet on the highway pegs. I personally much prefer the cafe/ 1/4 fairing as it knocks the wind off my chest and lets my helmet vents pick up some nice fresh air, but lets just a little too much wind by for cold weather and very long rides.
Here is a pic of me riding with the 17in windshield on, and slouched some.

IMO, ditch the windscreen idea, and get a modular or FF helmet for your trip. The buffeting from a windscreen will wear on you.
The buffeting isnt bad with a windshield, and I wear a full face all the time. Just wearing a full face still doesnt get the wind off your body, which is what really wears on you on longer rides.

I know what you`re saying. I don`t mind the wind on my body. I just hate having my head feel like a bobble head dashboard figure.
