Going to change the stock risers on my Glide. This bike is new to me and I am a Harley NEWB as well. I haven't ridden bike yet but feel the bars are a bit of a stretch for me. I would like to bring them back just a touch but keep the stock bars. Any suggestions to bring them back? Bike still has stock forward controls as well. I don't want to go extreme just a better riding position for me. I am coming off of several years riding sport bikes.
Just get riser extensions from DK. I put them on my wife's 2011 WG and she loves them. Looks like factory and takes about 5 minutes to install.
I'm on my phone right now so I can't give you a link or pics but I'll try to when I can get to my PC. Or just do a search for them.
DK Custom Products 'Fat' Stealth Riser Extensions will bring your bars up and back on your Wide Glide. Raising the bars and bringing them rearward can relieve the strain in your shoulders and back from the forward leaning position.
Your Wide Glide will do a 2" riser extension easily; clutch, brake, throttle and wiring will be no problem. The 3" extension will also work but your brake line will be nearing its limit. Any taller and you'll need to replace the brake line.
I run the 2" 'Fat' Stealth riser extensions on my Wide Glide and the bars are in a perfect position for me to ride comfortably with no back strain; and the bike looks fantastic! I also did a 2" DK Custom Products tank lift and now it looks like a Wide Glide 'should' look
This is the 2" riser extension. You can also see a 2" tank lift in the second image:
That would be perfect but one of the risers is bent from accident. Have to replace so thought might as well change it up a bit. Now I'm thinking change to drag bars as well while I'm at it.
