Ok I'm new to this site so don't beat me up to bad for the stupid question I'm about to ask. I my self have a 2008Sportster that is fuel ejected, a close friend of mine has a 1998Fatboy Anniversary addition he's been in hospital for a while now due to an accident he's asked me to start his bike for him and bring to my house with out looking embarrassed to him I'm asking here. Where is the enrichment /choke for on this machine located. I tried just starting like mine then realized it's carb not fuel injected like mine but I can not find the the enrichment or choke control on this bike. Feeling very stupid. I Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tha k you, Vin y
I have looked all over this fat boy for the choke can not find it. It is a 1998 Fat Boy 95th Anniversary addition.... Help feel like an idiot cause can't locate not where it should be....
You should be able to remove the air filter cover and see the choke valve butterfly,, trace it down from there,, if not just choke the ting manually (with your fingers)
All your supposed to do is bring it to your house right?
Your freind is in the hospital? There's a phone in the room right? Call him.
There are a couple different commercially available relocation brackets. Most bolt to the carb itself or to the top motor mount on the left side. Like John said, just traceback the cable.
It should be just under the lip of the seat and just in front of the fuel shut-off on the left. If you're used to the FI bike, don't forget to open (and close) the fuel shutoff too.
To start cold, pull the choke full out and twist the throttle a couple times. Then just crank with the throttle at idle. As the bike warms the idle will go up, so gradually push the choke in to keep the RPM around 12-1500 or so, and full in when it's warmed up.
