Default Clutch Upgrade

Hi,

I have a 2014 Fat Bob. And i love the bike. But i HATE the stock clutch. Coming from the Dirt/Street bike world. Im used to a good solid clutch engagement. This one, even after adjusting it per the manual just seems weak.

It doesnt really seem to slip persaym but if i slam a gear at WOT it just doesnt seem to grab the next gear really hard.

Im thinking maybe the clutch spring will help with this? Or is it fine and i just need to get used to it?

Thanks

it's more your riding style. How often are your slamming it?! Enjoy the ride. No need to upgrade the clutch unless you really have money to burn or if the clutch is already on its last limbs. You'll get used to it.

I have a couple bikes and each clutch is different. I can still WOT on all my bikes without hesitation and have full confidence. You'll adapt after more time on the bike.

Thats pretty much what i figured. The bike has about 6500 miles on it, and its fine everywhere else.

But the hard shifting it just doesnt seem to like. But again... its a crusier so i just need to remember that.

I have only done this once or twice, but if i "no lift shift" Grab clutch, kick up and let go really quickly it seems to slip everywhere.

But again im sure its my style. Thank you for the reply

Hmmm it shouldn't slip that bad. I ride like a maniac too and don't have that slippage issue on quick releases. Keep in mind...I'm not a dirt bike guy so maybe your release is faster than mine? Lol. My tenure is with high performance sportbikes.

You can upgrade to a hi performance clutch that wil solve your clutch slip issues.
The stock clutch pack is set up for 70-maybe 100 hp. When it gets hot or is put to hard work like yours, it will slip.
A complete Bandit, Barnett, or Rivera aftermarket clutch will solve this, as they have a lot more friction surface.
You could also upgrade your stock clutch basket with an aftermarket clutch pack from one of these companies.
After 6500 hard miles it might be time...

And this is why im asking.

Ive only ever replaced clutches on my dirt bikes. Similar, but not the same. Im not worried about performing the work. I am more than capable

But im looking at Barnett's site and i could use a recommendation on what set to buy.

I see Kevlar, Carbon Fiber, 9 friction plate, 10 friction plate, diaphragm spring, etc.

Can i get a recommendation on what kit to look into/possibly purchase? My engine is going to remain stock internally. Just the stage 1 stuff i currently have

Yup-
While in there, I would also replace the pack with a fresh one from Barnett or others.
Night and day difference, and you should be able to hammer it all day...

Just know that the Barnett is a stiffer spring, it will hold more pressure than the SE but is a noticeable stiffer pull.

If you replace the clutch pack and want more "grab" get a +1 kit, this will add more friction area. I used to run the Alto +1, but others like Barnett have theirs too.
