CGGorman's 99 Wide Glide build thread
556 pounds with an empty fuel tank and no battery or tray.
291 rear, 265 front
gasoline weighs 6.3 pounds per gallon
Should be around 590 fully fueled and trimmed out. A bit more than I expected but not terrible. 20 pounds less than last version, despite adding a 49mm front end, 30mm cartridges, dual brakes, three stabilizers, 7" headlight, and a huge front wheel/tire. (FXDR is 660, FXDL-S is 674)

I'll be curious to see how the balance changes once I get the sag set and sit on it.

Started researching what needs done to get it registered since it's a salvage vehicle. During the inspection, it looks like I need to produce receipts for every replacement part over $100 so I've been digging thru my records. I wish I had known that 2 years ago. I didn't keep many of them. It's against my personal ideology with regard to hobby expenses. I don't want to know...
It's illegal to operate a vehicle on the road with a salvage title, except to go to the inspection. (Once the bike passes, it gets a "rebuilt" title and is legal to ride.) Looks like the nearest inspection station is about an hour away. I'm not comfortable doing 2 hours without a couple good shakedown runs, so I guess I'll risk the $2000 fine. Fortunately I live out of town so I can ride country roads amd stay away from the police.
Ohio law requires mufflers with "baffle plates" and a max decibel level of 86 (82 at idle). That's crazy quiet.* I may have to fit a stock exhaust to pass inspection. I have head pipes but I think my mufflers are gone. Will have to dig around.
Gonna call the DMV Monday to see what they have to say.
Anyway, she gained 10 pounds in one afternoon.

Taking a break from troubleshooting.
I have a mesh Wi-Fi setup (Asus Lyra) and I sometimes lose connectivity briefly (30 sec) when the phone switches from lyra to lyra (I have 3. One in detached garage, kitchen, and living room) and I think that's what happened so I probably a corrupted firmware now.
Also thinking about how to fire up the old speedo to get the current mileage so I can transfer it to the new one. I think if I connect my power supply to the power and ground pins it will display. Just gotta figure out which pins and not smoke the gauge.
It's always the last little details! At least the weather looks really nice for the next several days.
In the meantime, here a few shots with the old girl warming up in the sun for the first time in over two years.

Startup with decent sound.
It's measuring about 102 decibels at idle from about 15 feet, with a dominant frequency range of about 50-125 Hz. That's probably gonna be an issue at inspection. Damn.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
For reference, if anybody needs to know. For 99, at least.
1.3A load while running, with all lights on,seems pretty damn efficient to me! It monitors the load in real time to determine faults and sends an alert to my phone is anything deviates from normal (burned out bulb) or it shuts down outputs in the case of shorts.
