Added an oil cooler to my 15 Fat Bob, engine guard, ventilator breather and did a crankcase vent system instead of going into the intake.
However I f'd up the ECM and can't test ride it until I get it back to the dealer.
From time to time I experiment with stuff and screw up. I always learn something but it can cost money. I call it entertainment tax.
I have a 13 Street Bob engine and ecm setting around from when I had a 120R dropped in. I keep the ecm because it had the Vigilante tune in it and I may instal the set up into the 89 FXR.
I had a brain fart and thought since it is not a stock tune would it work in another Dyna. So I plugged it into the Fat Bob. The LCD display announced "not the correct ECM". Okay. But when I plugged the original one back in it would not communicate to the engine. So, I have to take it back to the dealer to make it happy again.
So don't plug in a strange ECM it will upset the bike and it will not function.
Lesson learned. And yes most would not try that but I was curious.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Now your bike knows you have another girlfriend! Hope she doesn't find out about your harem.
When I worked for Volvo I had 3 different cars that needed transmissions so I asked parts to pull the transmission for the first car I had to do.
I gave them the PO# and they pulled the tranny and dropped it off at my bay...
Of course I didn't check the part numbers and installed the new transmission into the car.
When I went to program the TCM to the new transmission guess what happened?

..
Computer say...
"Wrong component mounted".
Yep, it was the first and only time I ever saw that message.
OP did you try disconnecting the battery for a half hour or so to see if that helps?
She lives!!!! Password learn did the trick!---Thanks cvaria
Now I am wondering if I try that with the other ECM Hmmmm.
Nice!
This ECM stuff makes me nervous. It would cost me quite a bit to fly my bike back to Anchorage just to take it to the dealership. I think I should have bought an old carb bike.
