Chrome doesn't like ammonia. Don't use Windex (blue formula) or other window glass cleaners. Windex DOES have a green formula that does not contain ammonia. That one's ok to use (if you HAVE to use Windex.)
Using polish (with grit) excessively, may cause the chrome to wear. Mother's makes some good products for polishing metals.

Hmmmm... why is that? I use Windex & never gave it much thought.

Any ammonia based product will eventually strip wax. I've only seen this name come up in here a few times, Collinite, probably one of the best waxes and cleaners on the market. My Pop detailed cars since the 70's and did so up until he past, this is all he ever used.
