I wanted to check the rear wheel alignment (because at a certain speeds at about 45 and below I've been hearing a sound that sounds like a wheel bearing). So I have a service manual for my bike and I look up up "Rear Wheel - Installation: 2-20 and so I go there. It says "Verify that wheel and tire are true. see 2.8 CHECKING AND TRUING WHEELS."
Well hey- there is no 2.8 in my manual. What gives? Does anyone else have a 2.8 in their manual?
Serious. I HATE all the back-and-forth bullshit in these service manuals.
Just don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable before you air up your tires. Seriously, I do like the Harley manuals. The electrical schematics especially are easy to follow compared to what I've seen in some metric manuals. But there's a fair amount of stuff that's unnecessary and sometimes just flat-out wrong.
I'll be damned. 2.8 is right there in page 2-31. How did I miss that? I looked in the index.... sheesh Who organized this manual?

The factory service manual is well written and organized, but it was written to be used by professionals, who know how to use real service manuals. It`s not going to spoon feed you.
It`s really the only way to organize a manual to give you the information and not be a foot thick because of repeated information.
