Default FXDB shocks

I've reading through at least 50 threads on Dyna shocks. Lengths, manufactures, and adjustment points. Like everything else, everyone will have their opinions, and that's what I am looking for.

I am looking at the Ohlins HD 816 (12 3/4+-1/8 length)

Or the JRI HD shocks in probably 13" length

I would love to get a set of the Ohlins Backline shocks, but I can't seem to find a 12.5 - 13" inch set specifically for a Dyna. I still need to contact Motorcycle Metal to see what they can assemble for me, but I have a feeling a custom tailored set of Backlines will push me outside of my budget.

I know a bunch of people run Works shocks , but in order to have the rebound adjustment, the cost just get's beyond my budget.

I hear good things about Hagon Nitros, and haven't ruled those out.

Also, would you say that the rebound adjustment is worth the added cost?

HD761, HD762 or HD763 avec Ohlins Backline shocks specifically made for Dyna
Own the 763 myself (all adjustable and piggyback), can't be more happy !

I'm going with the Hagon Nitro's

Only ones with dampening adjustment without getting a piggy back, so much cheaper and they come in 12.6in length, along with 38mm piston which is slightly bigger than Ohlins' 36mm piston. And with a bigger piston it'll be easier to tune IMO.

Yeah, I've looked at the 761, 762, and the 763 is out of my range. All three are only offered in 12" lengths. If I invest nearly $1000, I'd prefer to move up to 12.5 - 13".

I was noticing the piston is bigger on those. The cost is just really hard to pass up.

I'm running with my stock shocks at the highest setting and they work ok for me but in next year or 2 I do plan to upgrade. I'm pretry much set on Hagon's too, they're a family owned company, American made and the price is right.

Edit: after looking at their business card, it says made in England...maybe not American made, I could be wrong on that one...

762 here. It sits already higher than stock by a couple finger lengths so you'd be fine with the 762 unless u are stuck on 13.5.

I do like the rebound adjustments. Especially when I ride 2 up and I can dial them up.

Go with the ohlins and you'll never look back. This should be standard on bikes...the bike feels and rides like it should, especially if your a canyon rider or have bumpy roads.

Prior to that it felt like I was riding a wooden creaky board.

13.5 is more than I wanted.. Was thinking 12.5 - 13 max. If the 762s are bringing the stock height up a couple "fingers", then that sounds about right to me.

Decisions, decisions...

***** Edit - Looks like the HD762 is 305mm, and will adjust +10, so that will get me close to 12.5.

I believe the shock bodies, springs, and valve parts are made/ machined in England but the springs are put on when you order since they/re set for your weight.
