I'm swapping the IPB in my 2006 Dyna with a Baker bearing kit. I've read a few accounts where people have just hammered the old IPB out, and I might go that route (would a 2" socket to support the inner primary, and a 1 3/4" socket and a dead blow hammer be the right tools for doing it that way?) or should I invest in an inexpensive bearing press?
I did this a few years ago. I still have the tool to get that out. I can send it to you in a flat rate USPS box if you are willing to return it the same way plus enough for a couple beers.
I did not use a press. I used two sockets, some threaded rod, washers, and nuts. That is how I usually press stuff on or off. I do not remember the sizes though.
Let me know if you are willing to do that.

When I did the replacement on my 06 I could not get the old bearing out no matter what I did. Took it down to the local dealer (thanks El Cajon Harley) and they pressed it out for me in 2 minutes. Getting the old one out is the hardest part. I was able to get the baker in by putting it in the freezer and the primary case in the oven at 250 for 20 minutes.
Buy the puller or tape ever think off and carefully grid a notch in it almost thru. Then tap it with support and it will crack and pull right off. Do not hammer on it. You are beating on the bearings on the primary drive gear. Sure some get away with jack-leg stuff like this but for how long? If you decide to use a new sleeve and Harley bearing, press it on.

I knocked mine out with a hammer and punch, go slow and move around to keep it from getting cocked. On the race I ground it down to wafer thin and broke it in two.
Buy you a cheap bearing and seal installer, there are so many sizes that you probably have the right one...the bearing might be a bit tricky. Take your time
It had great reviews. Why wouldn't it work? I was going to support the lip of the IPB hole with a 2" socket underneath, then press the bearing out, thrn flip it over, support the other side with a correctly sized socket and press the bearing in.
