Hi there, pretty straightforward question which is why I'm posting it as a new topic - what is the easiest way to unwire the factory installed, internally wired mini apes on a 2014 FXDB? Is it easier to unplug the wiring from the controls and feed them downward, or unplug from the frame and feed them upward? Seems to me that unplugging from controls would make the most sense. Also, how tall can I go with new bars using the stop wiring and cables? I'm doing this myself and would rather not have to cut and splice, please sound off with tips and tricks!
Just to clarify. Disconnect the Deutsch connectors at the neck, depin connectors, remove controls, pull out the wires while still attached at the switch housings..

Bath tube chain works great fro pulling the wires through the new bars. De-pinning is not necessary to pull the wires out of the mini apes, but may be recommended depending on what bars you are going to replace the mini apes with.
I f@#ked up the right harness trying to pull it through a set of 12" west coast slingshots.... The right control harness has a second connector for the kill switch that got hung up in my bars. $300 later, I ended up de-pinning the new control harness, and threaded it through no problem. Once you de-pin once, it's a snap every time after.
Alright - got the wires all pulled and the bars off, but to internally wire my new bars I need to depin the molex connectors. I've managed to get 2 out of 4 wires out of the right side connector but the other 2 won't budge. I've watched enough videos to know what it should feel like to pop the internal clip, but these two won't give. I've tried a pin, paper clip, and dental pick. Is there a trick I'm missing? Can't seem to understand why two wires unpinned fairly easily and the other two won't give.
