Default Tranny and primary oil change

Just got an '03 Wide Glide and need to change trans. and primary oil. Any helpful hints I need to know or is it as easy as the manal makes it look?

Nothing to it.....Just make sure you take the correct plug for trans.
Follow the manual.

follow the manuals, owners manual or service manuals, the primary will take 26 oz., many say to just throw in a qt., too much oil will cause difficulties in finding neutral and and possible some shifting problems. when i add the engine oil i put in the first two qts. install dip stick. fire it up, let the engine run for about a minute check for leaks, shut it down, wait a couple of minutes and fill to within a half inch to the full mark,this is usually just right. have fun.

Pulling off the oil filter is the worst of it. Use a piece of stiff cardboard rammed under the filter before you loosen it. The cardboard will catch the oil and direct it down into your catch pan........pg

Like the others said - don't overfill and follow the exact amounts the manual states. Enjoy the satisfaction of maintaining you ride...the dealers make enough money off of us as it is!
