I have a 2000 Dyna Convertible. It has the handlebar mounted cluster.
The speedometer does not work over 10 MPH then goes to 0 when I go faster, odometer goes dark. The engine light comes on when it does this.
Sometimes it wont work at all. The engine light is on then too
Has the 1450 Twin Cam
If it was the speed sensor would the odometer not light up too??
My gages are mounted in large rubber grommets. You have to twist and pull to work them out. No screws involved. Of course yours may be completely different. Any chance of a pic?
The speedo sensor is typically on top of the transmission mounted in the trans. cover. You can take it out and clean the sensor head, tends to pick up crap in the tranny. Then check the speedo sensor plug under the seat for corrosion on the pins.
what code is it throwing? it may answer your question for you .usually the vss will also cause the self cancelling turn signals to fail and or cause the bike to stall when coming to a stop.
