I sent DK a message asking if they offer a back plate that would work with my filter and cover. If so, then I could order it, the filter support and breather kit. If not, I could simple still order those two items and take the Big Sucker back plate and cut the ears off and use it the same way. I'll wait to see what they say.

Hey TinCup - I've been wanting to replace my K&N AC setup (which Doesn't vent externally) to one like yours. Did you buy it as a complete system from DK or did you have to order the AC and the breather system separately?

Do you have a Part# for set up or maybe a link? I've been looking around the DK site - they have a lot of different products.

Before you start adding other **** to the mix fix the current problem which is you have oil leaking out of your air intake. The catch can and bypass systems may prevent oil from dripping but the cause is still there. Don't put a bandaid if its going to continue to bleed, stitch that **** up.

I would check oil levels first as previous suggested, all hoses routing to the air intake that could collect blow-by, lastly the PCV system (if one is present). If NONE of these are the issue then I would consult more on other possibilities. I'm new to the HD scene but have worked on more than enough vehicles, especially forced-induction, to know that ignoring what is causing the issue can be bad mojo.

Hiya kontiki!

I actually bought everything sort of piece by piece only because I was searching for the holy grail of looks and external venting

I used the DK Custom 587 with smooth chrome bobber cover and their gripper cover fastener.

I've modified my external breather a half dozen times from breather bolts to horseshoes to T connections but this low mount under A/C filter setup is the absolute best I've used. The hose runs are short so the crankcase gasses are still a vapor when they exit the filter; on the longer hose arrangements the gas has time to cool and condense the oil back out of vapor and you end up with oil that can drip. This under A/C is the cleanest setup I've ever used, the gas is still hot as it hits the filter and vents away; I'm amazed how clean this filter is staying

I ended up using the DK Custom complete breather system to finish the job.

I'd call DK Custom and talk to Natalie or Dawn at 662-252-8828 Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm CST so they can put the right parts together for you and get it shipped; they don't offer the complete breather in the drop down breather menu options but they will get a package set up for you that will exactly match what I've done here... and I'm quite sure you'll spend a bit less than I did to figure all it out

Edited to add: One thing I didn't mention; since I took that image I've added 5/16" fuel injection clamps. The hose is 3/8" I.D. but a 5/16" fuel injection clamp will just fit over the hose keeping the clamps as small as possible. I was getting a bit of oil weeping from the hoses at the filter after the bike had cooled. Since the addition of the clamps there's not any sort of weeping at all. Fuel injection clamps look much better than worm gear clamps; more like a collar, you can get them at most NAPA stores for just a couple of dollars

Default insignificant

it is simply a reality of a big displacement "V" twin. let it **** and find something else to focus/spend on. you'll find it happens most on decel. ie" downhill riding using the engine for braking. or extended high RPM riding, either way it is absolutely nothing to worry about. And just my opinion but that nifty little filter in the pic will end up dripping also.
