I used to have an Iron and the steering was actually something I liked a lot more with the Bob. When I would come to a slow stop, the Iron would tend to wobble whereas the Bob was rock solid.
The dealer basically said with only 200 miles on the bike, they wouldn't do any testing other than a test ride. They said things are still breaking in, and at the 1000 mile service, when they check the bike over, that's when they would address something like that.
Does anyone else get that wobble feeling when coming to a stop? Is it just how the bike is? Maybe things just felt tighter because it was brand new?
Yeh, Wideglide wobbled a lot. Until I went darkside.
Well, here is some NEW info. The dealer adjusted my fall away, and it was looser when I got the bike back. Seems most dealers will only bring into "spec" which about 2". I was called by a dealer rep to see how I liked my service. When I told them it was looser after adjustment, they said they would see what they could do. That's the last I heard from them.
I recently changed to an independent. I asked him to make the fall away closer to 1 inch. Wow! What a difference. Of course, you can do this yourself fairly easily without affecting the warranty. Just get to the star nut (or follow the bike specific manual.) The star nut can be turned by using a punch type tool and hammer. You should get the directions and watch a video before doing it.
You must have known that already though. These bikes handle like "****". if you want to point it through a sweeper at speed than get a GSXR/CBRR. otherwise sit down, hold on and shut up! Dont spend time and money trying to make a whale handle like a dolphin. "slow down" and enjoy the ride.
