RE: Help me replace the junk bulb in my Dyna......
I was totally dissatisfied with the stock headlite until I took the time to properly aim the headlite and it was an amazing difference.
I went and bought the Sylvania bulb mentioned above and installed it tonite, can't really tell a lot of difference other than the color of the light. I was hoping for more. I suspect that a lot of the problems we're having with headlights is caused by the headlight not being properly aimed, don't think the dealer even checks it on setup.
RE: Help me replace the junk bulb in my Dyna......
I'm kind of shocked at this thread. Is that an 07 SG? I have an 07 Low Rider and couldn't be happier with my stock headlight. Nice bright and wide low beam and outreaching high beam. I wouldn't hesitate to say that I've got better night eyes on my bike than I do in my car. Maybe you should wipe some of the bugs off your lamp before you ride?
RE: Help me replace the junk bulb in my Dyna......
I purchased a H4 hid conversion kit for a car and split it with a buddy,1 bulb/ballastfor each bike. This cut our cost in half. The brightness is incredible and the bulbs have no filament so they last 10 times longer. I have a tank lift installed on my bike and the ballast fit between the frame and the tank completely out of sight. Its like riding in daylight now. These kits can be found online for $250 or less.
RE: Help me replace the junk bulb in my Dyna......
I have an 05 fxd and the stock bulb sucked. The dealer did check the aim and it was a very simple process, he had a line on the floor and a spot on the wall. I tried the Piaa
and the distance on hi-beam was amazing but light on the road was not as good as i expected. I now have an Osram +50 and the light on the road is really good with a wide
area to the sides, the pattern ismore to the right which is good for animal detection.hi-beam is not quite as far as the osram but stillvery good and way betterthan stock. this is my experience and yours may vary. By the way my night vison sucks as bad as the stock bulb.
RE: Help me replace the junk bulb in my Dyna......
Ditto!
When I checked mine it was aimed at the sky. The brown book says to put the bike 25' from a wall on level ground and the high beam should be centered at 34" off the ground. When I did that my beam was 9 feet off the ground. When I adjusted it down where it belongs, there was a huge difference.
I still plan to get a brighter bulb but no bulb will be bright enough if it is aimed at the sky and not down the road.
